Perfect Post for Alliteration

This post sure has a lot of P's in it. The top Photo has a tag that has PaPer Pieced PumPkins. The bottom Photo shows my Porcelain-PaPer, Plaid, PaPer Pieced Poinsettia Pin. Both were done with sets from Mark's Finest Papers. The top one used the set Thankful Mums and Pumpkins and the bottom one used Seasonal Poinsettias.

If Jesus Goes with Me

This card was a statement of faith for me. I made it for two splitcoast challenges. The first: a ways to use it challenge to use a frame, and the second: a Friday free for all challenge to paper piece. I wanted to make my card with a vintage feeling. I printed the hymn "If Jesus Goes With Me." from the Timeless Truth's Library They have hymns that are public domain so that you can print them and use them with out copyright infringement. I printed it on white printer paper and it needed some distressing. I first swiped tan ink over the top. I then took matches and burned the edges. I then took tea bags and let them stain the paper in an un-even pattern. The frame was a chip board frame that has been in my stash for a couple of years. I covered it with paper from K&Company that had a vintage look. I made little hand made roses to compliment the roses on the designer paper. I punched them out of cream cardstock and watercolored them with pink and peach colors. The vellum quote of taking ONE DAY AT A TIME really spoke to what I wanted this card to be. I knew I wanted to use these two hat pins with pink tops. I added lace, from an old curtain. I used pewter brads to hold the layers together. I paper pieced the butterfly. I stamped it so that each wing would have a rose on it. I seldom make my butterflies this way, I usually just color them. I want to share the first verse and chorus to the hymn that I used: "It may be in the valley, where countless dangers hide; it may be in the sunshine that I in peace abide; but this one thing I know, if it be dark or fair, If Jesus is with, I'll go anywhere! If Jesus goes with me, I'll go anywhere! 'tis heaven to me, wher-e'er I may be, if He is there! I count it a privilege here, His cross to bear, If Jesus goes withme, I'll go ANYWHERE"

Autumn Days

I took a piece of gold cardstock and I stamped sentiments and images from several Mark's Finest Papers sets. I used : Thankful for you, Thankful mums and pumpkins, and Autumn Fun.
I then cut the gold paper in a leaf shape. I got my template by photocopying a leaf and using that as my pattern. After I cut the leaf shape out, I took a ruler and a black marker and doodled on the leaf. I finished the card by using a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers Thankful for you set and a leaf punch on more gold paper.
The inspiration challenge on Splitcoast, today, took us to a website called Poster Cabaret. I was inspired by this poster.

Joy Fold Card

Both of these cards use the Joy Fold technique. Today's Friday Free for all challenge was to make a card with a flap. They are also for the Stampin' in Sisters Challenge to make a prayer card.

The first one has the first verse of Sweet Hour of Prayer:

"Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a World of care, and bids me at my Father's throne, make all my wants and wishes known. In season of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief, and oft' escaped the tempter's snare, by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!"

I used the butterfly from Layers of Color Flutterescent set.

The second one has this scripture:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thankgsgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

I used the little girl from Mark's Finest Papers Thankful for you set. I paper pieced her dress and added lace for her apron. I masked and layered the wheat and corn shocks.

Lace Apron

I had a lot of fun with this little girl. I paper pieced her dress and hat and added lace for her apron. It made me think of when I was little and made paper dolls. I ran the oval through the cuttlebug and distressed the embossing. The pumpkin is popped up on a piece of craft foam.

Praying for you

The Stampin' sisters in Christ challenge this week was to make a card about prayer. I made this card for the wife of our youth minister. Her mom passed on to glory last week. I wanted to let her know that I was praying for her during this difficult time. This is also for the Ways to use it challenge to use fabric on card. I used lace fabric. It was part of an old lace curtain. The paper that I used was Basic Grey indian summer paper. I made a butterfly using the Layers of Color Flutterescent Set. The close up shows the dimension of the wings.

Chatfield Lake

For the past 6 years, we have had a family tradition of going to Chatfield Lake and taking a family photograph. This lake is only a 10 min drive from our house. This year the leaves were not as colorful as they have been in the past, but it still made a great back drop for our photo. Gotta love cameras with a timer. I hope that by next year I can afford a tripod. For the past six years we have used the same stump to set the camera on. That really limits the background.

Thankful for you!

This is for today's Sketch challenge at SCS. I masked and layered the wheat, corn and little girl to add depth. I added blue chalk for the sky and colored the rest with prisma colored pencils.

This paper bag album uses the trees from A Walk in the Woods. It was my example for the girls in my Learners for Life group. They made paper album scrap books as our Tuesday night project. They loved this project. They especially loved the stamping. It was their first experience stamping.

I stamped the two side trees first, then I masked them and stamped the 3 tree. I then did the ink spray smash technique. After the paper dried, I stamped the trees again. I really like how this card turned out.

I love cardinals. I saw one just this morning in the tree by my house. I love their bright red feathers as well as their melodic call.

Layers of Color Scripture Sampler

I made this paper bag album as an example for the girls in my Learners for Life group. They made their own paper bag albums tonight. They loved how the wings on the butterfly moved like a real butterfly. They each had to put a butterfly on the outside of their albums. It was the first time they had ever stamped. I filled some of the pages of my albums with some of my favorite scriptures.

I love this little deer and polar bear. They are just so cute. I masked the polar bear and stamped the deer so that he stood behind. I punched little snowflakes and added pearls to the centers.

When I saw this poinesttia stamp, I knew I was going to make a porcelain pin. The gold centers were drops of hot glue that I embossed with gold ep. I found that when embossing dried hot glue, I had to work really fast so as not to melt the glue. I made a little origami box to hold the pin.

My big secret

My big secret... I get to be the guest designer for Layers of Color. My dream come true. I love Laura's images. This is a box for holding 3x3 note cards. Each card has a Layers of Color butterfly from Laura's Flutterescent set. The cards and the box were stenciled using my Layers of Color art stencil. I also used a Layers of Color flourish on the cards as the butterfly trail. Thank you Laura for this wonderful opportunity. I am so blessed.

Strawberry Split

This is the card I made for the Technique lover's challenge. The challenge was to take an image and split it or cut it up. I used the border stamp by Layers of Color. I cut it into 3 panels. On the center panel, I stamped the flower a couple of times and cut it out and layered them to make the flower dimensional, and added a pearl to the center. I stamped a Layers of Color butterfly as well. I scored the right hand side of the card 3 times (it is hard to see in the photo).

Snowman Country Sketch

This is a sneak peek of a soon to be released set by Mark's Finest Papers called Snowman country. My trees and snowman are popped up on dimensionals. I added glue and glitter to the trees.
